S. Korean president to seek military aircraft sale in Poland

SEOUL, July 6 (Yonhap) -- South Korean President Lee Myung-bak will promote the
sale of his country's supersonic trainer aircraft, the T-50, in Poland during his
weeklong European trip starting Tuesday, a defense acquisition agency in Seoul
said.

T-50 "Golden Eagles" are South Korea's first indigenously developed light attack
aircraft, mainly built to train F-16 pilots.
During the July 7-14 tour that will also take him to Italy and Sweden, Lee plans
to meet with local government officials to discuss bilateral issues, with a
particular focus on drawing Poland's attention to the T-50, the agency said.
"Poland is expected to seek the purchase of high-performance trainer aircraft in
early 2010," the Defense Acquisition Program Administration said in a release.
"Government-wide efforts will be launched to push for the sale of T-50's to
Poland," it said.
