CAMA: Recording tape proves no technical defect in ill-fated plane

SANA'A, July 05 (Saba) - The chats between Moroni Airport control tower and Captain
of the Yemenia ill-fated plane proves that the plane had no technical faults, Hamed
Faraj, Chairman of Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority (CAMA) announced on
Sunday.

Faraj said in a press conference held at Sana'a International Airport that after
listening to the recording tape, we found out that it did not include any complaint
by the captain from any technical problems in the plane before coming down.

He confirmed that these information "will be analyzed by the investigation team",
which consists of Yemeni, French and Comorian members and media will be briefed
immediately on the results of this chats.

The two black boxes' positions were located. They will be recovered soon after the
French fleet's special equipments arriving from Djibouti, said Faraj.

The crashed plane's documents required by the Comorian Civil Aviation Authority were
sent on Sunday afternoon with the flight heading to Moroni.

Faraj confirmed what media has reported regarding finding a big piece of the plane
identified by American C-130 aircraft, noting that investigation committees are
continuing their work in collecting and examining the documents and keeping them
within the investigation fundamentals.

Earlier in last Tuesday, a Yemeni airplane crashed into the Indian Ocean off the
Comorian coasts. It was carrying 153 passengers including three infants and a crew
of 11.

The Yemenia IY 626 flight was on a trip from France, Yemen and via Djibouti to
Moroni, capital of the Comorian Republic.

Investigations and research and rescue operations are still ongoing.

French and American planes participate in the search and rescue operations.
