Pezeshkian: The Spread of Terrorism Benefits No Country
The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, held a telephone conversation on Monday to discuss the latest developments in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, as well as bilateral relations between Iran and Qatar.
According to Mehr News Agency, President Pezeshkian referred to the activities of terrorist groups in northern Syria, stating that insecurity and terrorism in the region are to the detriment of all countries. He emphasized the necessity for regional nations to actively participate in combating this menace. Pezeshkian added:
"We aspire for a secure region, respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Islamic countries, where all nations can live in peace and tranquility. Regional leaders must act proactively to ensure security before foreign powers feel entitled to intervene."
The Iranian President commended Qatar’s mediatory role in addressing regional crises, particularly in Gaza, and expressed hope for the continuation of these efforts to strengthen peace and unity among Islamic nations.
Pezeshkian also criticized the role of the Zionist regime in spreading insecurity and terrorism across the Islamic world. He called for unity and solidarity among Muslim nations to counter such threats.
Discussing Iran-Qatar relations, Pezeshkian highlighted the agreements reached during his recent visit to Doha. He announced plans for a high-level economic delegation to visit Qatar to participate in the Joint Economic Commission and expedite the implementation of these agreements.
Sheikh Tamim echoed Iran’s position on key regional issues, including the need to preserve Syria’s territorial integrity. He emphasized that stability in Syria can only be achieved through dialogue and political solutions, reaffirming Qatar's readiness to facilitate such efforts.
The Emir also underscored the strong bilateral ties between Iran and Qatar, expressing satisfaction with the recent agreements. He described them as paving the way for a promising future in the relations between the two nations and pledged to follow up on their full implementation.
