South Africa Invites Singapore To Participate In 2025 G20 Presidency
SINGAPORE, Dec 4 (Bernama) -- South Africa has invited Singapore as a guest country to participate in the Group of Twenty (G20) meetings under its 2025 G20 Presidency, according to Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
The MFA stated that Singapore looks forward to working constructively with the South African G20 Presidency, as well as other members and guests, on South Africa’s theme of “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability”.
"Singapore would like to express its appreciation to South Africa for the invitation. Singapore will continue to actively contribute to the G20 process both in our national capacity and as the Convenor of the Global Governance Group (3G)," the MFA said in a statement on Tuesday.
The ministry added that Singapore aims to strengthen and advance common efforts to realise the Sustainable Development Goals and the Pact of the Future, promote inclusive economic growth, food security, and Artificial Intelligence and Innovation for Sustainable Development.
The G20 is an intergovernmental economic forum comprising 19 countries and two regional unions: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the UK, and the US, as well as the European Union and the African Union.
Collectively, it represents 85 per cent of the global economy, 75 per cent of world trade, and 67 per cent of the global population
