Hyundai, Kia's U.S. sales climb 14.7 percent on-year in Nov.
SEOUL, Dec. 4 (Yonhap) -- Combined vehicle sales of Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Corp., South Korea's leading automakers, in the United States rose 14.7 percent from a year ago in November, the companies said Wednesday.
The combined sales, together with those of Hyundai's independent luxury brand Genesis, in the U.S. market totaled 154,118 units last month.
Hyundai Motor's sales rose 10.4 percent to 84,011 units and Kia's sales jumped 20.2 percent to 70,107 units. Sales of Genesis climbed 33.7 percent to a fresh monthly high of 8,003 units in the country.
Combined sales of the companies' eco-friendly vehicles soared 77.5 percent to 35,529 units. Of those, sales of hybrid models surged 85.8 percent to 24,296 units.
The top selling model for Hyundai was the Tuscon hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) model, selling 8,126 units. Kia's bestselling model was the Sportage HEV model, selling 3,705 units.
