SEOM Retreat Foundation For Malaysia To Chart Economic Priorities In ASEAN
KOTA KINABALU (Sabah, Malaysia), Dec 6 (Bernama) -- The discussions at the two-day ASEAN Senior Economic Officials' Meeting (SEOM) Retreat 2025, which ended Thursday, provided a foundation for Malaysia to chart its economic priorities as ASEAN Chair next year.
Wisma Putra, in a statement Friday, said that while the detailed outcomes of the SEOM Retreat will be unveiled during the ASEAN Economic Ministers' Retreat (AEM Retreat) in February next year, the meeting reviewed the progress of Laos' Chairmanship this year particularly within the scope of the economic pillar.
The statement mentioned that the SEOM Retreat, led by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), also examined key statistical data for ASEAN in 2024, which will serve as a critical reference in shaping the region's economic agenda moving forward.
“These Senior Official-level meetings play a vital role in providing valuable input to ASEAN Ministers, ensuring the alignment of priority areas and delivering actionable recommendations for strengthening the ASEAN Community.
“The SEOM Retreat underscores Malaysia’s dedication to regional collaboration and its commitment to fostering inclusive economic growth and sustainable development within ASEAN,” added the statement.
