President congratulated by his former classmates
Almaty, July 07, 2009 (Khabar) - Nursultan Nazarbayev’s former classmates and teachers have congratulated the President on his birthday. They all gathered in the Karasai district of the Almaty region – the birthplace of the President. The meeting was organised by the fund of the First President of Kazakhstan.
Bektas Mukhamedzhanov, executive director, Fund of First President of Kazakhstan:
- The birthday of our president and our capital city should be celebrated together. We are on the verge of a new event when this holiday will be a nationwide one. No doubt that it will be a great one and it will be important for everyone.
51 year ago, graduates of the Abai Secondary School of the hen-Kasekelen district, which is now called the Karasai district, found their own ways in lives. Each of them had a lot of ways to choose from. One of them led Nursultan Nazarbayev to the supreme state post.

The President’s classmates recalled his hard-working, ethical and polite attitude towards everything. He was also kind and thirsty for knowledge, attentive and highly demanding on himself. These are the qualities describing the future president during his school time. Even now, when over 50 years have passed, they still remember how Nursultan Nazarbayev helped them in algebra and trigonometry. He was fond of Kazakh tales and sometimes his questions got teachers confused.
