PM: The Govt Has Committed To A Program That Goes Hand In Hand With Diversifying The Economy And Eliminating The Mono-Rentier Economy
Baghdad/NINA/- Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani stressed that the government is committed to a program that goes in parallel with the diversification of the economy and getting rid of the mono- rentier economy, .
Al-Sudani said in a speech he delivered at the Iraq Development Platform Conference that the energy sector represents a pivotal position in the government's plans.
He added: We succeeded in reducing gas flaring by 70 %.
The Prime Minister said: Today we are approaching self-sufficiency in the oil derivatives industry, noting that Iraq has put lines for transportation, gas and communications on the path of development.
He continued: The Ministry of Electricity is preparing to announce the large package of energy production projects for gas stations.
The Prime Minister said: We have proceeded with the electrical connection with the Gulf countries, Turkey and the European Union.
He added that: Iraq's position is now gaining a brighter image.
He continued: Iraq is now seen as a cornerstone in the stability of the global energy market.
For his part, the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Mohammed Al-Hassan, confirmed today, Tuesday, that Al-Sudani has strengthened the energy vision with tangible proposals for cooperation and partnership between the public and private sectors.
Al-Hassan said in a speech during the Iraq Development Platform Conference: "We commend Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani for strengthening the relationship between the public and private sectors."
Al-Hassan added: "Iraq can address critical issues related to renewable energy." / End
