LG Electronics invests in U.S. mobility software startup Apex.AI

SEOUL, Feb. 21 (Yonhap) -- LG Electronics Inc. has invested in Silicon Valley-based mobility software startup Apex.AI as part of its broader plans to expand collaborations with software providers in the artificial intelligence (AI) era, the U.S. company said Friday.
"LG Electronics, a global innovator in technology and consumer electronics, including vehicle solutions, has made a strategic investment in the company," Apex.AI said in a statement.
Through the funding, LG Electronics became the U.S. startup's first strategic investor, it added.
However, it did not disclose the financial details of the investment.
Apex.AI, founded in 2017, is known for safety-certified software for mobility and software-defined vehicles (SDVs).
LG's investment follows a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between Apex.AI and LG Electronics at the end of 2024 to co-develop a high-performance computer for future mobility.
LG Electronics has been expanding collaborations with companies in robotics, SDVs and AI, which are considered new growth engines for the South Korean tech company.
