MTE 2025 Showcases Malaysia’s Commitment to Innovation
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 21 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2025, from Feb 20 to 22, underscores the country’s unwavering commitment to fostering a vibrant and dynamic innovation ecosystem, bringing together participants from 12 countries and 86 exhibitors at the World Trade Centre here.
Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Mohammad Yusof Apdal said the MTE has evolved into a beacon of innovation, serving as a platform where ideas are forged, partnerships take root, and the future of technology is shaped.
“Today, we are not merely celebrating innovation, but embracing the transformative power of science and technology to address some of the most pressing global challenges of our time. This is where the seeds of groundbreaking ideas are sown and where they blossom into solutions that redefine industries and improve lives.
“Malaysia’s innovation landscape is vibrant and dynamic, driven by a combination of government support, private sector investment, and the incredible talent of our researchers, entrepreneurs and innovators,” he said in his opening speech at the event Friday.
Mohammad Yusof highlighted Malaysia’s emergence as a key data centre hub in Southeast Asia, driven by strategic infrastructure investments, forward-thinking policies and a strong commitment to sustainability.
“Johor, for instance, with its strategic proximity to Singapore and ample land availability, has emerged as a hotspot for major players like Microsoft, AWS, Google and Oracle.
“The next highlight is we are on the roadmap for a regional AI hub. Recognising the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI), the government is making bold investments to position Malaysia as a regional AI hub. With a RM10 million allocation for the National AI Office (NAIO) and RM50 million dedicated to AI education in Budget 2025, alongside a RM1 billion Strategic Investment Fund, we are fostering a robust AI ecosystem,” he said.
