East Malaysian State Sarawak to Host World Robot Olympiad - State Minister Roland Sagah
KUCHING (Sarawak, Malaysia), Feb 21 (Bernama) -- East Malaysian state Sarawak is aiming to bid for the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) next year, said Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD), Roland Sagah Wee Inn.
He said this aligns with the state’s vision of positioning Sarawak as a hub for robotic, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education excellence.
“The launch of Makeramai Makerspace today (Friday) is a significant step towards cultivating a dynamic and inclusive digital ecosystem. It is space for students, researchers and entrepreneurs to harness innovative technology, collaborate across discipline and turn ideas into impactful solution,” he said.
Roland made these remarks while speaking at the launch of the Makeramai Makerspace and closing ceremony of the Sarawak Digital STEM Demo Day here.
He added that the Sarawak Science Centre, set to open next year, will also serve as a hub for scientific exploration, featuring interactive exhibits and facilities.
Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) in a statement said the Makeramai Makerspace has various maker facilities, including electronics, design and multimedia labs.
It is a community hub that aims to support a growing maker ecosystem in Sarawak.
