S. Korea, Europe agree to boost aviation cooperation

SEOUL, July 9 (Yonhap) -- South Korea and European countries have agreed to step
up cooperation in their aviation policy, technological development and other
safety-related information sharing, Seoul officials said Thursday.
The agreement was signed in Strasbourg, France, between South Korea's transport
policymakers and their counterparts from the European Civil Aviation Conference
(ECAC) on Tuesday, the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs said in
an emailed statement.
The ECAC is one of the world's most influential aviation organization, consisting
of 44 countries in Europe. It plays a major role in setting an international
standard for aviation policies along with the United States, the ministry said.
The ministry expects the cooperation deal would help South Korea receive advanced
know-how from the ECAC in connection with aviation policy, step up cooperation in
technology development and expand exchanges of information between the two areas
for safety.
