Monthly private education spending for preschool children stands at over 300,000 won

SEOUL, March 13 (Yonhap) -- The average monthly spending on private education for preschool children aged 6 and under stood at over 300,000 won (US$206.34), a government survey showed Thursday.

The total amount of monthly fees spent on kindergartens specialized in English-language education also recorded 1.5 million won on average, according to the survey conducted by Statistics Korea at the request of the education ministry.

The average monthly private education spending per child was 332,000 won, the survey showed.

Households with over 8 million won in income spent 6.7 times more on private education fees than households with less than 3 million won in income, the survey showed.
