17 CASES OF ABUSIVE MAID REPORTED SINCE 2006

KUALA LUMPUR, July 9 (Bernama) -- Seventeen cases of abusive maid were
reported nationwide since 2006, Deputy Home Minister Abu Seman Yusop said
Thursday.

He said 16 of the cases were on maids' abusing their employers' children,
while the other victim was an employer's husband.

"The maid had given the employer's husband rat poison," he told reporters at
the Parliament lobby here.

Abu Seman said the case was brought to court and the maid was evicted from
Malaysia.

The 16 cases of abuse of the employers' children were investigated under
Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001, he said, adding that three of the cases had
been solved so far.
