270 FOREIGNERS ARRESTED OVER DRUG TRAFFICKING




KUALA LUMPUR, July 10 (Bernama) -- A total of 270 foreigners including 39
women aged between 19 and 40 were arrested in connection with drug trafficking
in the capital in the first six months of this year.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Muhammad Sabtu Osman said the figure
was 21 per cent higher compared to the corresponding period last year.

The police have also seized 12.8kg of heroin, syabu (986 gram), ketamine
(21.2kg) and 260 Ecstacy pills in the first six months this year, he told
reporters here.

Muhammad Sabtu said the foreigners arrested were from Indonesia, Thailand,
Myanmar, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Taiwan, Nepal, Nigeria and China.
