Industry Minister congratulates Bahrain’s commercial attaché on UNCTAD vice chair appointment

Manama, May 10 (BNA): Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, congratulated Maryam Abdulaziz Al Dossary, the Ministry’s Commercial Attaché in Geneva, on her appointment as Vice Chair of the 15th session of the Investment, Enterprise and Development Commission of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
The minister highlighted Bahrain’s pride in its talented youth, noting their growing presence in international leadership roles. He described the achievement as a reflection of the professionalism and competence of national cadres and their capacity to represent the Kingdom honourably on global platforms.
Al Dossary’s appointment was announced during a meeting at UNCTAD headquarters in Geneva. Bahrain is also set to chair the 15th session of the Commission, which will convene on Tuesday and Friday. This marks the Kingdom’s first time assuming the presidency of the committee.
The session will address investment promotion and facilitation, support for small and medium sized enterprises, and science, technology, and innovation policy. It will also examine the impact of rapid technological changes, such as digitisation and automation, on structural transformation and industrialisation. Discussions will focus on strategies to navigate challenges and advance inclusive and sustainable industrial development.
