Speaker meets Malaysian counterpart

Jakarta, May 14 (BNA):  Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, met with Dr. Johari bin Abdul, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malaysia, on the sidelines of the 19th session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC).

Both sides commended the bilateral ties between Bahrain and Malaysia, supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, King of Malaysia.

They expressed their appreciation for the longstanding relations and strategic partnership between the two countries and peoples, marking over fifty years of diplomatic relations.  The two sides reiterated their shared commitment to advancing coordination and cooperation across various development domains.

The two speakers affirmed parliamentary support for enhancing joint investment cooperation and welcomed the outcome of the recent visit by Bahrain’s economic delegation to Malaysia.  The visit formed part of the Team Bahrain initiative aimed at positioning the Kingdom as a destination for international companies, exploring mutual opportunities, fostering sectoral cooperation, and promoting knowledge exchange in priority areas.  These efforts align with Team Bahrain’s vision to attract international investment, drive innovation, and support sustainable development.

The meeting also reviewed means to strengthen bilateral cooperation and joint parliamentary coordination in regional and international forums, in support of the common interests of both countries.
