His Majesty the King participates in the GCC–US summit
Manama, May 14 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa participated today in the Gulf Cooperation Council–United States (GCC-US) Summit, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, was in attendance.
During the summit, His Majesty the King delivered the following address:
Your Highnesses and Excellencies,
We are pleased to extend our thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for the gracious invitation, generous hospitality, and warm reception.
This distinguished gathering provides an opportunity to convene and firmly uphold the spirit of close friendship that has grown in strength and in depth through the years between the Gulf Cooperation Council member states and the United States of America.
We are equally pleased to welcome the Honorable Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, whose participation in this summit reflects the depth and enduring significance of the strategic partnership between the GCC and the United States.
We reiterate our congratulations to the President on his historic electoral victory and the achievements he has made since assuming the presidency. We also commend his vision and diplomatic approach aimed at reinforcing peace and resolving conflicts an approach that fully aligns with our shared objectives, including the collective call for peace issued by Arab leaders at the Bahrain Summit held in the Kingdom of Bahrain last May.
Moreover, we express our immense appreciation for the President’s active diplomatic endeavors to establish and sustain peace and stability in the Middle East and throughout the world, including the recent decision to lift economic sanctions on the Syrian Arab Republic. We look forward to further collaboration in forging a safe, stable, and prosperous region for all its countries. This wise policy offers a unique chance for us to move forward together toward achieving a just and lasting peace in the Middle East one that guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people through the two-state solution, upholds regional security and stability, and contributes to making the region free of weapons of mass destruction and preventing an arms race.
There is no doubt that the success of the ongoing negotiations between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran will bolster stability and elevate levels of prosperity for the countries of the region efforts that we value and greatly commend. We also highly value the honorable and humanitarian role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in proposing and supporting peaceful initiatives and defusing wars, perhaps most important of which recently has been related to halting the Russian-Ukrainian war.
In support of international efforts to enhance regional and global security, the Kingdom of Bahrain takes pride in its longstanding partnership with the United States, built on mutual respect and shared interests. Our historic cooperation with the US Navy's Fifth Fleet is living proof of this partnership and confirmation of our steadfast commitment to safeguarding maritime navigation in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea, ensuring these routes remain free from piracy and terrorism.
Furthermore, in the Kingdom of Bahrain, we believe that strategic integration among our nations to achieve security and development is a fundamental pillar for safeguarding our accomplishments and fulfilling our people’s aspirations for a stable and more prosperous future. we affirm Bahrain’s determination to continue strengthening economic and commercial ties with the United States of America expanding investments and bilateral trade within the framework of our unique strategic partnership.
In conclusion, we wish this summit every success, hoping it will mark the beginning of a new phase of constructive cooperation, sustainable partnership, and mutual understanding toward a region blessed with security and stability and a world characterized by peace, harmony, and prosperity.
