Speaker commends HM King’s address at GCC-US Summit
Manama, May 14 (BNA): Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, commended the address delivered by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa during the GCC-US Summit held in Riyadh, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Al Musallam highlighted His Majesty’s vision for strengthening strategic relations between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and the United States, describing it as a model partnership that promotes common interests and supports regional stability and development.
He expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, in preserving regional security, advancing the GCC framework, and fostering constructive international cooperation.
The Speaker emphasised that diplomacy grounded in wisdom and moderation remains the most effective means for achieving rapprochement, sustainable peace, and broader cooperation, highlighting the principles embodied in the Bahrain Summit held in May last year.
He noted His Majesty the King’s recognition of the diplomatic efforts of His Excellency Donald Trump, President of the United States, in promoting peace in the Middle East and globally.
The Speaker also welcomed the decision to lift sanctions on Syria as a step towards regional stability, and called for concerted efforts to secure lasting peace, uphold Palestinian rights through a two-state solution, and pursue a region free of weapons of mass destruction.
Al Musallam also underscored His Majesty’s appreciation of Saudi Arabia’s role in supporting peaceful initiatives and conflict resolution, which aligns with Bahrain’s steadfast commitment to regional security and sustainable development.
He further commended His Majesty the King’s affirmation of the historic and strategic ties between Bahrain and the United States, rooted in mutual respect and shared goals, describing the relationship as a model of constructive bilateral cooperation.
The Speaker reiterated the Council’s support for enhancing economic and trade relations with the United States, to advance investment and exchange based on strategic alignment and common aspirations for prosperity.
