FM: Baghdad Summit Comes At A Sensitive Stage In The History Of The Arab Nation, Requiring The Unification Of Our Efforts

Baghdad / NINA /-Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein stressed that “our meeting today comes at a sensitive stage in the history of the Arab nation, which requires unifying our efforts.”
In a speech at the Arab Foreign Ministers' meeting, he said that “the Palestinian issue remains central to our conscience,” pointing to the need to stop the Zionist war machine and end the suffering of the people there.
He affirmed Iraq's support for and solidarity with Sudan and its sovereignty, calling for an end to the war there and the settlement of differences on a national basis.
He noted Iraq's welcome to the holding of the international conference in Cairo to rebuild the Gaza Strip.
The Foreign Minister said that Iraq supports efforts to achieve stability in Syria.
He explained that Iraq calls for the lifting of economic sanctions imposed on Syria.
He affirmed Iraq's support for Lebanon and its condemnation of the repeated Zionist attacks on Lebanon's sovereignty.
For his part, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, said “we meet today at a time when the region and the world are witnessing great turmoil.”
In a speech during the Arab Foreign Ministers' meeting, Aboul Gheit said that “Baghdad Summit is a place of great hope.”
Aboul Gheit emphasized that “the martyrs of Palestine are our martyrs, and their cause is the cause of the Arab nation. We look forward to a unified message from this summit to immediately stop the war of extermination.” / End
