Foreign Minister chairs Arab League follow-up committee meeting in Baghdad

Baghdad, May 15 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, chaired the ministerial-level meeting of the Arab League’s Follow-up Committee on the Implementation of Decisions and Commitments, in the presence of foreign ministers from member states and the participation of Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League.

The meeting reviewed and discussed a report prepared by the Kingdom of Bahrain, in its capacity as Chair of the 33rd Arab Summit, detailing the efforts made by the Kingdom and the Arab League General Secretariat to follow up on the resolutions adopted by the Arab leaders during the Bahrain Summit last May, particularly those concerning the promotion of joint Arab cooperation.

The committee also reviewed a second report prepared by Bahrain on the initiatives endorsed during the Bahrain Summit, and the steps taken by the Kingdom to follow up on their implementation, in coordination with the General Secretariat and relevant international organisations, in line with the provisions of the Bahrain Declaration.

The committee approved both reports and agreed to refer them to the Council of the Arab League at the summit level for endorsement.

Khalid Yousif Al Jalahma, Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, Ambassador of Bahrain to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League; and Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Al Turaifi, Head of the Arab and African Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were present.
