Municipalities Minister participates in 28th Ministerial Meeting on Municipal Affairs

Kuwait, May 15 (BNA): Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, participated in 28th Ministerial Meeting on Municipal Affairs held in Kuwait. GCC ministers attended the meeting to discuss joint efforts in municipal development.

Al Mubarak underscored Bahrain’s support for enhancing Gulf cooperation in the municipal field, stressing the importance of aligning efforts under a shared vision that responds to the region’s development priorities and ambitions.

The minister highlighted the strategic role of municipal institutions in promoting sustainable development, boosting economic growth, and enhancing the quality of life across Gulf societies. He also underscored the importance of continued coordination to modernise legislation, improve regulatory oversight, and exchange best practices among GCC states.

The meeting discussed key topics, including urban sustainability and strategic planning. Ministers approved several regional frameworks, including guides on integrated waste management and urban design. The meeting also endorsed the urban greening manual led by Bahrain, and gave the green light for a new GCC Urban Research Centre to be established at King Saud University, College of Architecture and Planning in Riyadh.
