Youth Affairs Minister participates in 9th Global HSE Conference

Manama, May 22 (BNA): Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, 9th Edition of the Global HSE Conference & Exhibition, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The minister underscored the need for collective action and cross-border, cross-sector strategic partnerships, underscoring the vital role of youth in shaping the future.

Minister Tawfiqi emphasised the Kingdom’s commitment to empowering youth as a key pillar of a prosperous and sustainable future, highlighting the need to harness their energy and enable their contribution to sustainable solutions, especially in environmental innovation and digital transformation.

She highlighted several national initiatives that reflect this approach, including the Bahrain Science Centre for SDGs, established in 2018 as an advanced educational institution promoting environmental awareness and innovation in clean energy and sustainability. The centre operates using eco-friendly technologies that foster sustainability practices among youth.

The minister also discussed Youth City 2030, one of Bahrain’s largest national youth programmes, which offers a six-week interactive learning environment featuring advanced workshops in science, technology, media, arts, and entrepreneurship. The programme aims to equip young people with the skills needed for future job markets and active participation in public life.

Minister Tawifiq noted that these initiatives are part of a broader national strategy to empower youth, creating a supportive environment that fosters innovation, creativity, and decision-making participation. She said that Bahrain is working to expand these initiatives locally, regionally, and internationally through sustainable partnerships that promote knowledge exchange and joint youth projects, in alignment with the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

She emphasised that youth are not only central to the present but are key partners in building a safer, more sustainable future. Investing in their capabilities and equipping them with tools for innovation and knowledge is fundamental to any genuine developmental transformation.
