Foreign Ministry’s Legal and Human Rights Director General meets UK officials

London, May 22 (BNA): Ambassador Dr. Yousef Abdulkarim Bucheeri, Director General of Legal Affairs and Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with Patrick Moody, Director for the Middle East and North Africa at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), during an official working visit to the United Kingdom.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Arwa Hassan Al Sayed, Chief of the Human Rights Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom in the field of human rights, particularly in exchanging expertise and best practices, capacity building, and enhancing national mechanisms for the promotion and protection of human rights.
Both sides underlined the importance of maintaining constructive dialogue and continuous coordination at regional and international levels to serve shared interests, uphold global human rights values, and support sustainable development and the rule of law.
The Bahraini delegation also met with Olukemi Williams, Deputy Director for Education and Gender Equality, and Adam Farley from the UK Foreign Office. Discussions focused on women’s empowerment, education, and equality, and explored opportunities for cooperation on development initiatives with a human rights focus.
The delegation briefed the UK side on Bahrain’s efforts in advancing women’s rights, highlighting achievements in political, economic, and social empowerment, and national initiatives that promote equal opportunities and support women's active role in development.
Both sides expressed keenness to continue cooperation and enhance future coordination to expand the scope of collaboration and exchange perspectives on shared priorities.
