Shura Council Chairman marks 44th GCC anniversary

Manama, May 24 (BNA): Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, extended congratulations on the 44th anniversary of the establishment of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), celebrated annually on May 25. He expressed pride in the Council’s achievements and its continued contribution to the progress and prosperity of its member states over the past four decades.
Al Saleh emphasised that the GCC has witnessed notable accomplishments and steady development that have enhanced the regional and international standing of its member states. He attributed these outcomes to the vision and directives of Their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the GCC countries, and the strength of the historical bonds among them. He noted that continued cooperation, coordination, and joint action are key to advancing development across all sectors.
The Chairman of the Shura Council sent a cable of congratulations to Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the GCC, in which he expressed appreciation for the Secretary General’s efforts to strengthen joint Gulf cooperation and reinforce the foundations of unity and integration among member states. He commended his commitment to achieving the collective aspirations for greater cohesion and progress.
Al Saleh described the GCC as a leading model of regional cooperation and solidarity. He highlighted its role in promoting comprehensive development through initiatives and programmes that advance economic, social, political, security, and defence integration. He concluded by wishing further success to the leaders of the GCC in fulfilling the aspirations of their citizens.
