HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister meets with the Prime Minister of Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, May 27 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, met with Yang Amat Berhormat Dato' Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, on the sidelines of His Royal Highness’s official visit to Malaysia.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the Prime Minister of Malaysia. In return, the Prime Minister of Malaysia extended his greetings to HM the King.
His Royal Highness highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to advancing Bahrain-Malaysia ties and cooperation across various sectors, emphasising the advanced levels of collaboration that exists between both countries in pursuit of shared aspirations.
His Royal Highness reaffirmed the importance of further strengthening the strategic partnership to promote further cooperation and opportunities that serve the mutual interests of both nations.
His Royal Highness and the Prime Minister of Malaysia reviewed the latest regional and international developments, addressing issues of mutual interest.
His Royal Highness and the Prime Minister of Malaysia then witnessed the exchange and signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding, outlined as follows:
1. A memorandum between the government of Bahrain and the government of Malaysia on the establishment of a political consultation mechanism, signed by Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, and Yang Berhormat Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia.
2. A Memorandum of Understanding between the government of Bahrain and the government of Malaysia, on cooperation in the field of human resource management in the civil service, signed by His Excellency Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, and Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan bin Haji Abdul Aziz, Director-General of the Public Service Department of Malaysia.
3. A Memorandum of Understanding between the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI), on strengthening trade and economic relations, signed by His Excellency Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, and Kelvin Kee Chee Keong, Vice-Chairman of the MCCI Central Branch.
4. A Memorandum of Understanding between Universiti Sains Malaysia and the University of Bahrain, on academic cooperation through the exchange of professors and lecturers, and the development of joint academic programmes, signed by His Excellency Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, and Yang Berbahagia Professor Dato' Seri Ir. Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohamed, Vice-Chancellor of the Universiti Sains Malaysia.
5. Announcement to grant Malaysia sovereignty over subscriber data held by Malaysian companies in cloud computing centers based in Bahrain.
6. Grant Malaysia sea-to-air partner services status.
7. A Memorandum of Understanding between the government of Bahrain and the government of Malaysia, on cooperating in planning, development, and promotion of industrial parks, signed by His Excellency Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Minister of Finance and National Economy, and Yang Berhormat Senator Datuk Seri Utama Tengku Zafrul bin Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia.
His Royal Highness reaffirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s steadfast support for joint efforts between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states and Malaysia to establish a Free Trade Agreement, aimed at strengthening the GCC-Malaysian partnership. HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad also underscored the Kingdom’s support for launching a Free Trade Agreement between the GCC and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), highlighting its significance in boosting trade and fostering investment opportunities that drive economic growth and support sustainable development.
His Royal Highness affirmed the importance of the second ASEAN-GCC Summit and the inaugural ASEAN-GCC-China Summit, hosted by Malaysia. HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad also extended his best wishes for the success of both summits, underscoring their vital role in further strengthening cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council and the nations of Southeast Asia.
