Malaysia Condemns Israeli Strikes on Iran, Calls for UN Response

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), June 13 (Bernama) -- Malaysia has strongly condemned Israel’s strikes on Iran, describing them as a flagrant violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations (UN).

In a statement Friday, the Foreign Ministry said the unprovoked aggression, which took place on Friday, resulted in the deaths of Iranian military personnel and civilians and caused significant damage to critical infrastructure in several parts of Iran.

“This attack by Israel is clearly a flagrant violation of international law, including the Charter of the United Nations, and poses a serious threat to international peace and security,” said Wisma Putra, Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry.

Malaysia called on the international community and the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to strongly condemn Israel’s actions and ensure that it is held accountable under international law.

“At this critical juncture, all efforts must be made to prevent further escalation, which could destabilise the region and have far-reaching global implications,” said Wisma Putra.

Malaysia also expressed its support for ongoing efforts by the United States (US) and Iran to resume diplomatic dialogue concerning Iran’s nuclear programme.

It urged all parties to uphold international law and pursue constructive dialogue and diplomacy in resolving conflicts, in the interest of achieving lasting and comprehensive peace.

Israel began striking Iran at around 3 am local time on Friday, targeting both military and nuclear facilities, as well as residential areas, according to Iranian media reports.
