Seoul stocks 2.11 pct down in late morning
SEOUL, July 13 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded 2.11 percent lower late
Monday morning as investors dumped tech, financial and auto shares, analysts
said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) fell 30.12 points to
1,398.5 as of 11:20 a.m. Foreign sell-offs stoked the tumble, more than
offsetting bargain hunting by retail investors.
Samsung Electronics led tech setbacks by plunging 2.6 percent, while banks and
brokerages added to the market gloom by losing significant ground. Automakers
also traded in negative territory.
The local currency was trading at 1,288.75 won against the U.S. dollar as of
11:20 a.m., down 6.05 won from Friday's close.
