Aysha Al Haram becomes first Arab woman leader at SSPI-WISE

Manama, July 13 (BNA): Aysha Al Haram, Chief Satellite Design Department at the Bahrain Space Agency (BSA), has been appointed co-chair of the newly established "SSPI-WISE East" regional group under the international Space & Satellite Professionals International (SSPI) initiative Women in Space Engagement (WISE), reflecting Bahrain’s growing role in the global space sector.

Al Haram is the first Arab woman to assume a senior leadership role within the organisation, which focuses on empowering women and youth in the space and satellite industry worldwide. Her appointment aims to support women in the space sector across the Middle East and Asia, highlighting the importance of emerging markets in shaping the industry's future.

Al Haram said she will focus on advancing STEM education, organising technical and leadership programs, and building strong regional networks to empower engineers, researchers, and Arab women in space.

This achievement highlights international recognition of Bahraini female talent in advanced technology and underscores the BSA’s key role in the global space sector.

Dr. Mohamed Ebrahim Al Aseeri, the CEO of BSA, congratulated Al Haram, calling the appointment a significant step in empowering Arab women and enhancing Bahrain’s leadership in this field.
