Bahrain’s parliamentary delegation highlights legislative efforts to promote peaceful innovation, digital transformation

Geneva, July 30 (BNA):  Dr. Bassam Ismail Al BenMohammed, Member of the Shura Council and representative of the Parliamentary Delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain, participated alongside MP Abdulnabi Salman Ahmed, First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, in a panel discussion titled "Innovating for a Peaceful Future, Crafting New Solutions for a Turbulent World."

This was part of the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in cooperation with the United Nations, held from July 29 - 31 in Switzerland, under the theme "A world in turmoil:  Parliamentary cooperation and multilateralism for peace, justice and prosperity for all".

During the panel, Dr. Al BenMohammed underscored that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has been committed to advancing peaceful innovation that directly contributes to national development and progress.

He highlighted Bahrain’s efforts in establishing an integrated national framework that promotes innovation in governance, enhances digital transparency, and broadens opportunities for youth and civil society to actively engage in decision-making, adopting a forward-looking approach that balances national values with global shifts.

Dr. Al BenMohammed reviewed Bahrain’s notable achievements in establishing a legislative environment conducive to peaceful innovation, including the enactment of pioneering laws that foster innovation, digital transformation, and sustainability, and that stimulate the knowledge-based economy.  Among these are the Personal Data Protection Law, the Cybercrime Law, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Law, as well as legislation on entrepreneurship and intellectual property, reflecting a clear political will to position innovation as a sovereign tool for serving citizens, strengthening stability, and fostering sustainable peace.

He further emphasised that innovation for peace is not a theoretical luxury or a rhetorical embellishment, but rather a deliberate political act, manifested in the development of legislative and oversight tools, and in the construction of inclusive, participatory models that embrace societal diversity and restore public confidence in the possibility of peaceful change.  Every law drafted with foresight, every form of oversight exercised effectively, and every partnership built on fairness, he noted, constitutes an innovation in the service of human stability.
