WHO Regional Director visits RMS

Manama, Aug. 7 (BNA): Dr. Hanan Balkhy, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, visited the Royal Medical Services (RMS), where she was received by Brigadier General Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, RMS Commander.

They discussed enhancing cooperation between the WHO and RMS, particularly advancing healthcare systems and improving diagnostic and treatment services in Bahrain.

Dr. Balkhy also toured the Bahrain Oncology Centre, where she reviewed specialised services in hematology, oncology, and stem cell transplantation for both adults and children. She was briefed on the center’s advanced technologies used to treat cancer, sickle cell disease, and genetic disorders, all delivered to international standards by qualified national medical professionals.
