PM: Presence of Major Oil Companies Reflects Government’s Commitment to Developing Iraq’s Energy Sector

Baghdad / NINA /-Prime Minister,  Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani affirmed that the presence of major international oil companies in Iraq reflects the government’s strong commitment to the energy sector and its efforts to modernize it in line with global standards.

A statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office said that Al-Sudani received, on Thursday, the President of the American oil and energy technology company Halliburton, Shannon Slocum, along with his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, Al-Sudani emphasized that the government’s vision focuses on developing the oil and gas sectors by utilizing the latest global technologies, expanding the use of associated gas, and increasing the production of petroleum derivatives. He also highlighted the importance of broadening cooperation with Halliburton, given its expertise and advanced technical capabilities, reaffirming the government’s support for the company’s work in developing Nahr Bin Omar and Sindbad oil fields in Basra province.

For his part, Slocum expressed Halliburton’s strong interest in operating in Iraq amid its current stability and openness to international investment. He affirmed the company’s commitment to providing the latest technological, administrative, and technical solutions, as well as contributing to the training and development of Iraqi professionals working alongside Halliburton./ End
