Al-Sudani Affirms Depth of Iraq–Pakistan Relations, Calls for Strengthening Parliamentary Cooperation

Baghdad / NINA /- Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani reaffirmed the strength of bilateral ties and the deep religious and cultural bonds between the peoples of Iraq and Pakistan, stressing their importance in consolidating joint cooperation between the two countries.

A statement from his media office said that Al-Sudani received today, Saturday, the Secretary-General of the Muslim Unity Party and member of the Pakistani Senate, Sheikh Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri, along with his accompanying delegation.

Al-Sudani welcomed the visiting delegation, emphasizing Iraq’s keenness to establish an Iraq–Pakistan Friendship Association and to activate joint parliamentary committees as a gateway to expanding cooperation across various fields.

The Prime Minister noted that Iraq has clear mechanisms in place to ensure the rights of foreign workers in line with applicable laws, while also highlighting the government’s commitment to providing the best possible services to visitors through all border entry points, particularly during religious occasions.

Al-Sudani further stressed the need for unity and solidarity in Islamic positions in light of current challenges, especially in response to the genocide and starvation facing the people of Gaza, affirming Iraq and Pakistan’s joint stance in rejecting aggression and the expansion of conflict in the region.

For his part, Sheikh Jafri expressed his appreciation to the Prime Minister and the Iraqi people for their efforts in welcoming pilgrims to the holy shrines, praising the hospitality and care extended to visitors. He also affirmed Pakistan’s eagerness to strengthen bilateral cooperation in ways that serve the mutual interests of both friendly nations./ End
