PM, Stresses the Importance of Malaysia's Participation in Developing Iraq's Oil Sector

Baghdad / NINA /- Prime Minister, Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani stressed the importance of Malaysia’s involvement in developing Iraq’s oil sector, highlighting the key role of Malaysia’s Petronas company in this regard.

A statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office said that Al-Sudani received Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in Baghdad, where the two sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them.

The statement added that the talks reviewed areas of cooperation in various fields, emphasizing the need to activate the meetings of the Iraqi-Malaysian Joint Higher Committee in the coming period to expand bilateral partnership.

The discussions also underscored the importance of aligning positions on several regional and international issues, foremost among them the war on Gaza and the stance of Islamic countries regarding it.

Al-Sudani further emphasized the importance of boosting cooperation in the fields of energy and natural gas, describing them as promising areas for investment between Baghdad and Kuala Lumpur. /End
