Canada's food watchdog issues allergy alert on 10 S. Korean snacks
SEOUL, July 14 (Yonhap) -- Canada's food watchdog has warned people with certain
allergies not to consume 10 South Korean snacks because they could cause "serious
or life-threatening" reactions, its official Web site showed Tuesday.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) said people with allergies to milk,
eggs or tree nuts should not consume the products, as they contain allergens that
are not declared on their labels.
The products are made by three Korean brands -- Lotte Confectionary, Crown
Confectionary and Surasang -- and include "Pepero Biscuit with Choco," "Sando
Choco" and "Couque D'asse Coffee."
There have been no reported allergic reactions associated with the consumption of
those products, the CFIA said, but added the importers of those products are
voluntarily recalling them.
