Saudi Football History Documentation Project Releases Final Report

Riyadh, September 01, 2025, SPA -- The Saudi Football History Documentation Project team unveiled the final report, chronicling 123 years of the sport’s history from 1902 to 2025 covering the period from the reign of King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud to the present day.
During a press conference yesterday at the Saudi Arabian Football Federation headquarters in Riyadh, project team member Abdulelah Al-Nujaimi, speaking on behalf of the team, highlighted the project's main pillars, methodology, and the standards approved by the general assembly clubs. He also praised the strong cooperation demonstrated by the clubs throughout the various stages of the project.
Al-Nujaimi revealed that the project was built on eight main pillars, including support from the wise Saudi leadership, the stages of development in Saudi football, organizing bodies, national teams, clubs and competitions, international impact, social and economic influence, and women’s football. He added that the project's work followed four defined mechanisms, which involved data collection from sources, review and verification, data analysis and correlation, and benchmarking.
Launched in March 2024, the project’s final report was approved and ratified in April 2025. It received support from several national entities, most notably the Ministry of Sport, the Saudi Broadcasting Authority, the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives, the Saudi Pro League, and the clubs of the general assembly of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation.
