Autumn Weather: Fog and Rain Capture the Beauty of Nature in Aseer

Abha, September 01, 2025, SPA -- The skies over Abha were adorned today with breathtaking natural scenes, as dense clouds poured over the mountain slopes and spread across the city's neighborhoods, announcing the arrival of autumn in Aseer Region.
Autumn in Aseer is marked by distinctive weather phenomena, cloud cover, cooler temperatures, and increased rainfall, which enhance the beauty of nature and revitalize vegetation. The season is also a transitional period between the heavy rains of summer and the onset of moderate weather, making it a favored tourist season that attracts visitors from within and outside the Kingdom.
Researcher Dr. Abdullah Al-Moussa explained in his book "The Agricultural Calendar in Aseer" that autumn begins with the appearance of the Suhail star on July 29. Known for its frequent fog and heavy rains in the south of the Kingdom, the season has earned the local nickname “Suhail’s Ghutat.”
Dr. Al-Moussa noted that the Suhail season is one of the most beautiful times of the year in Aseer, with moderate weather and the ripening of autumn fruits, particularly pomegranates. With its mild climate and enchanting fog, the season has become one of the region’s most prominent natural assets, reinforcing Aseer's reputation as one of the Kingdom’s most attractive destinations.
The people of Aseer continue to rely on these seasonal weather patterns to guide their agricultural and social lives. The arrival of dense clouds signals the end of the summer rainy season and the beginning of a new cycle that changes winds, planting times, and harvests.
Abha, with its fog gracefully draping over mountain peaks, remains a unique example of autumn’s charm in the Kingdom, blending a moderate climate with a picturesque landscape. These features highlight the region's rich environmental and tourism offerings and strengthen its standing as a premier destination for mountain and rural tourism.
