The Prime Minister Affirms Iraq's Desire to Develop Cooperative Relations With Oman

Baghdad / NINA /- Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani affirmed Iraq’s keenness to strengthen and develop its cooperation with the Sultanate of Oman, praising Muscat’s stances in support of halting aggression and consolidating stability in the region.
A statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office said that Al-Sudani held an extensive meeting today in Muscat with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, in the presence of the two countries’ delegations. The talks addressed regional developments and ways to enhance bilateral relations. The expanded meeting was followed by a one-on-one session between the two leaders.
Al-Sudani expressed Iraq’s appreciation for Oman’s distinguished positions regarding the challenges Iraq and the region have faced over the years.
For his part, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq reaffirmed his country’s desire to deepen bilateral ties and open wider horizons of cooperation with Iraq, noting that he had instructed his cabinet ministers to translate the memoranda of understanding signed with Baghdad into concrete steps.
The Sultan also stressed Oman’s support for Iraq’s efforts to curb the spread of conflict and to promote regional stability. /End
