Under patronage of Deputy Prime Minister, Bahrain to host second GWECCC conference

Manama, Sep. 7 (BNA):  Under the patronage of Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, the second edition of the Global Water, Energy and Climate Change Congress will begin on September 9 under the theme "Sustainable Water & Energy Transition – Innovating for a Secure Future".

 

The conference aims to discuss the interconnection between water, energy and climate change, and to present effective solutions for adapting to global challenges. It will also highlight successful experiences and innovative initiatives that seek to achieve a balance between development and the environment. In addition, the conference will provide a platform to exchange best practices and lessons learned in the development of water resources and ensure their proper utilisation.

 

The conference is expected to attract more than 3,000 participants from 30 countries, along with 150 speakers representing over 250 specialised local, regional and international companies, to participate in the conference programme, which includes a ministerial session, leadership dialogue sessions, roundtables, a youth forum, a technology forum, and a hackathon competition dedicated to Gulf university students competing to present creative ideas and innovative solutions to address challenges in this field.

 

An accompanying exhibition will also be held on the sidelines of the conference, with the participation of specialised companies showcasing the latest technologies and practices in water, energy and climate, alongside a creative corner dedicated to innovative projects, where start-ups will present their modern solutions and technologies in sustainability and energy.

 

The conference is organised by Nexus, in cooperation with the Ministry of Oil and Environment, and in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the ministries of energy, environment, climate change, and electricity, as well as government institutions concerned with water in the GCC countries, in addition to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and with the support of several specialised local, regional and international companies, including Bapco Energies, Saudi Aramco and ACWA Power.
