Derasat CEO participates in the Hili Forum 2nd edition

Abu Dhabi, Sept. 9 (BNA): Abdulla Mohamed Alahmed is the Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), participated in the 2nd edition of the Hili Forum in Abu Dhabi, on September 8–9.
The event is co-organised by the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) and the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA),
Speaking in the session "The Global Gulf: Middle Powers and Mediators", Al Ahmad highlighted the GCC states’ role as middle powers, supported by strong economic, political, and security foundations. He emphasised their growing influence in regional and international development and stability, noting that their active mediation in global conflicts has enhanced their reputation as neutral and effective actors engaged in multilateral diplomacy.
Al Ahmad underlined the GCC’s collective contribution to regional security and innovative approaches to crisis management, portraying the region not just as an energy hub but as a middle power balancing security, development, and global change.
He stressed the responsibility of Gulf think tanks to shape strategic perspectives, promote intellectual diplomacy, strengthen research partnerships, and learn from international experiences.
Al Ahmad said that the Heli Forum is a key platform for presenting the GCC’s vision to global partners through constructive dialogue, building trust, and fostering cooperation in areas such as economic integration, technological innovation, and sustainable energy. The forum reflects the region’s transition from a recipient of global agendas to an active participant in shaping them.
Derasat’s participation highlights its commitment to expanding strategic partnerships with leading research institutions worldwide, supporting international dialogue, and reinforcing Bahrain’s role as a hub for intellectual and diplomatic engagement regionally and internationally.
