Saudi Arabia’s IP Enforcement Successes Highlighted in 2024 Annual Report

Riyadh, September 10, 2025, SPA -- The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property announced the launch of the annual report on intellectual property enforcement for 2024, highlighting the joint efforts among various government entities within the enforcement sector and presenting the outcomes achieved during the year, which reflected advanced levels in detecting and reducing violations across commercial establishments, border crossings, and digital platforms.
The report, released in conjunction with the regional conference on intellectual property enforcement practices organized by the authority, showcased its efforts in carrying out more than 2,000 inspections and field enforcement visits across 51 cities and governorates in the Kingdom. In cooperation with the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, it handled 330 suspicious customs shipments, preventing the entry of more than 6.7 million infringing products into the local market.
In the digital space, 2024 witnessed a notable surge in blocking activity, with 7,908 infringing websites shut down, marking a 128% increase compared to 2023, targeting illegal live-streaming sites violating the Copyright Law.
Internationally, the Kingdom advanced in several global indicators and reports related to IP rights enforcement, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s International IP Index and the enforcement index in the World Competitiveness Report issued by the International Institute for Management Development.
The report stressed that enforcement efforts in the Kingdom go beyond handling violations, extending to awareness, empowerment, and international cooperation, thereby contributing to building a stimulating environment for creativity and investment.
