The village of Baghleq, in Iran’s northeastern North Khorasan province, is home to a uniquely distinctive cemetery. Instead of tombstones, simple wooden posts inscribed with the names and details of the deceased mark the graves. Located on a clay hill near the Turkmen-inhabited village, the cemetery has become a notable cultural and tourist attraction thanks to its distinctive burial customs and traditional Turkmen rituals.
