The FM Discusses With His Iranian Counterpart Developments In The Region And Bilateral Relations

Baghdad / NINA /-Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein met today, Sunday, with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the preparatory meeting of foreign ministers for the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit held in Doha to discuss the Israeli aggression against the State of Qatar.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Iraq and Iran, in addition to reviewing regional and international developments of common concern and the political and security challenges they pose.

The Minister also proposed an initiative to hold a joint meeting bringing together the Gulf States, Iraq, and Iran on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, with the aim of enhancing regional dialogue and coordination.

Both ministers condemned the brutal aggression committed by Israel against the State of Qatar, stressing that it represents a serious threat to the stability of the region. /End
