The FM Discussed In Doha With His Turkish Counterpart Strengthening Bilateral Relations And Regional Developments

Baghdad / NINA / -Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein met today, Sunday, with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, on the sidelines of the preparatory meeting of foreign ministers held in Doha.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and address shared issues, foremost among them the management of water resources and Turkey’s water releases.

They also reviewed the gravity of the current situation in the region and the Israeli policies that pose a clear threat to its security and stability.

The meeting further addressed the course of talks between the Turkish government and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), as well as developments related to this file. The situation in Syria was also discussed, with both ministers stressing the importance of its stability and territorial integrity in light of Israel’s attempts to undermine its security.

In another context, Fuad Hussein responded to an inquiry from the Turkish Foreign Minister regarding the upcoming elections in Iraq, affirming that they will be held on schedule, with preparations well underway to ensure their success and to strengthen the democratic process in the country.

The meeting concluded with both ministers condemning the Israeli attack on the Qatari capital, Doha, reiterating their solidarity with the State of Qatar, its leadership, and its people. /End
