PM: The Attack On Qatar Represents A Dangerous Escalation And Sends A Negative Message

Baghdad / NINA / -Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, speaking from Doha, called for the formation of a broad Islamic alliance to confront security challenges and to prevent the recurrence of attacks targeting countries in the region.
Al-Sudani took part on Monday in the emergency Arab-Islamic summit held in the Qatari capital, where he reaffirmed Iraq’s clear condemnation of the assaults undermining regional security and stability. He stressed Iraq’s full solidarity with the State of Qatar, the Palestinian people, and the peoples facing aggression in Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Iran.
The Prime Minister warned that the attack on Qatar represents a serious escalation and a violation of international law, undermining Doha’s mediation efforts to resolve crises. He urged the international community and major powers to act responsibly to prevent the occupying entity from destabilizing the international system.
Al-Sudani called for a unified Arab-Islamic stance condemning the attack on Qatar and for concrete international measures to hold the aggressor accountable. He affirmed that any assault on an Arab or Islamic country constitutes a direct threat to collective security, necessitating coordinated diplomatic efforts and deterrent actions to block future attacks.
He also proposed establishing an Arab-Islamic contact group to address the UN Security Council, the United Nations, and the European Union to convey the collective stance and defend the rights of their peoples. Additionally, he emphasized the need for a comprehensive roadmap to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza under international supervision, followed by a joint UN-Arab reconstruction program.
The Prime Minister reiterated that a political solution is the only path to guaranteeing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. He urged enhanced consultation and coordination mechanisms among Arab and Islamic countries to ensure a collective response to threats to sovereignty and security, and to activate a joint deterrence system to safeguard regional stability.
Al-Sudani further warned that continued policies of starvation and genocide in Gaza would only fuel a cycle of violence and chaos, deepening humanitarian suffering. He concluded his speech by stressing that the ongoing aggression, met with international silence, represents a grave setback for the global order./ End
