EPICOR SEES POSITIVE GROWTH IN MALAYSIA
KUALA LUMPUR, July 15 (Bernama) -- United States based Epicor Software sees
positive growth for it in Malaysia and wants to increase its workforce here by
20 percent from the current 100 by year end.
Its Asia's vice president for sales, Bryan Tan, said the plan to increase
the workforce here was a reflection of the potential of business that the market
had to offer to the company which provides business software solutions.
"We are seeing confidence, we are engaging companies that we engaged last
year, who actually shelved their projects but beginning to kick start them
again," he said in a press conference here, Tuesday.
He said a survey conducted by Business Decision Maker Intelligence (BDMi),
and sponsored by Epicor, reflected the growing business confidence.
Despite the current downturn, companies in Malaysia, China, Hong Kong and
Singapore are still keen to invest on Enterprise Resource Management (ERM)
solutions, implementation and services this year, he said.
About 450 companies from the four countries participated in the survey
voluntarily, out of which 117 companies were from Malaysia.
"It is very encouraging to see 70 percent of respondents from Malaysia
wanting to invest and those who invest in IT will realise and gain ahead of
competition when times get better," he said.
Companies from these countries are willing to spend more than US$50,000 on
ERM, he said, quoting the findings of the survey.
The main reasons for implementing ERM solutions meanwhile were to streamline
business processes and to conduct business globally, with more than half
indicating they will implement new ERM solutions and capabilities over the next
two years.
On the outlook for Epicor, he said: "We are growing and in the next three to
four years, we will emerge among the top three software companies in the
world."
