Foreign Minister meets diplomatic delegation members participating in Bahrain’s non-permanent membership team at UN Security Council

New York, Sep. 22 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with members of the diplomatic delegation designated to serve on the Kingdom of Bahrain’s team for its non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council (2026-2027), during a meeting at the Kingdom’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York.

 

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Jamal Faris Al Ruwaie, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the UN in New York, Ambassador Khaled Yousef Al Jalahma, Undersecretary for Political Affairs, and members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs delegation participating in the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

 

Dr, Al Zayani congratulated the diplomatic delegation members on their selection for this distinguished diplomatic assignment during Bahrain’s membership of the Security Council. He highlighted the goals sought by the Kingdom in line with the visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and in accordance with the government’s directives under His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He emphasised the strong attention given to the Kingdom’s Security Council membership.

 

The Foreign Minister said the work of the diplomatic delegation at the Security Council was a good opportunity to highlight Bahrain’s position on the international stage and its diplomatic approach, driven by His Majesty the King’s vision of peace, tolerance, coexistence, and human fraternity, reflecting balance, moderation, cooperation, and Bahrain’s core values.

 

Al Zayani underlined the importance of developing their skills, acquiring new capabilities, learning the working methods and political discussions at the Council, and gaining specialised experience through the Council’s mechanisms to reach final decisions on international issues discussed in its sessions. He underscored the need to engage actively, attentively, and cooperatively, highlighting the importance of teamwork and close coordination in the spirit of Team Bahrain.

 

The Foreign Minister explained the important role and responsibilities of the Security Council as one of the UN bodies responsible for international peace and security. He emphasised that political work in the Council requires skill, precision, continuous engagement, and building bridges of communication, cooperation, and coordination with other member states’ delegations. He wished the delegation success in fulfilling their responsibilities.
