Speaker meets Pakistani counterpart

Manama, Sep. 22 (BNA): Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, met with Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the accompanying delegation, during their visit to Bahrain aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation and parliamentary coordination.
Al Musallam highlighted the strong historical relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Pakistan, noting the advanced cooperation and strategic partnership across all areas, as well as prominent coordination and ongoing alignment on regional and international issues, benefiting both countries and their peoples, under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency Asif Ali Zardari, the President of Pakistan.
He emphasised the shared parliamentary commitment to supporting economic projects, investment opportunities, increasing trade exchange, and enhancing cooperation in food security, technology, and other priority sectors, while promoting parliamentary diplomacy to uphold peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the region.
The Speaker welcomed bilateral parliamentary cooperation with Pakistan’s National Assembly, noting the exchange of success stories, expertise in parliamentary work, and collaboration in electronic and digital transformation, as well as the legislative role in environmental governance. He expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s supportive positions toward Bahrain, affirming that parliamentary relations form a key pillar for building effective cooperation and strengthening the strategic partnership.
On his part, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq commended the efforts of His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in enhancing bilateral relations, developing cooperative initiatives, coordinating common positions, and supporting international peace and security, while advancing sustainable development goals.
He also highlighted the role of the private sector in both countries in promoting joint cooperation.
The meeting also addressed regional developments and topics of concern to the Islamic world, with both sides affirming support for Arab and Islamic causes and all regional and international efforts aimed at establishing security and stability in the region and globally.
