Deputy Prime Minister receives International Dates Council Executive Director

Manama, Sep. 22 (BNA): Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, received Her Royal Highness Princess Sarah bint Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Executive Director of the International Dates Council (IDC).

 

Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities and Agriculture, Naif bin Bandar Al Sudairi, Saudi Ambassador to Bahrain, and a number of senior officials attended the meeting.

 

The Deputy Prime Minister congratulated HRH Princess Sarah bint Bandar on her appointment as IDC Executive Director.

 

Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah affirmed Bahrain’s strong commitment to supporting regional and international initiatives aimed at strengthening food security, in line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

 

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that this strategic approach reflects Bahrain’s role in ensuring the sustainability of agricultural development at both regional and global levels. He also highlighted the Bahraini- Saudi relations in all fields, praising Saudi Arabia’s initiatives to develop the agricultural sector, particularly the date industry, which has become a recognised model at regional and international levels.

 

Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah commended the partnership with the IDC, which has been further strengthened by Bahrain’s hosting of the International Dates Observatory. He stressed the government’s full support for the observatory in carrying out its mandate as a specialised body for collecting, analysing and publishing data on the date sector worldwide. He added that the observatory will play a role in advancing related industries and strengthening the sector’s economic and nutritional contribution.

 

HRH Princess Sarah bint Bandar expressed her appreciation for Bahrain’s support, stressing that the observatory will strengthen international cooperation, enhance the global competitiveness of the date industry, and contribute to food security efforts worldwide.
