Foreign Minister attends high-level ministerial event on water diplomacy

New York, Sep. 22 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in a high-level ministerial event on water diplomacy organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in partnership with the foreign ministries of the Kingdom of Spain, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Finland, and the Republic of Senegal. The conference was held at the United Nations headquarters in New York under the theme "Water Diplomacy: A Bridge for Sustainable Development and Cooperation," on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

The conference was opened by His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, who underlined the importance of a shared understanding of the role of water and the need for decisive joint action. His Highness noted that water is a key element for international security, economic development, and global resilience.

HH Prince Faisal bin Farhan said that water challenges are worsening worldwide and, with growing scarcity and pressure, international cooperation is essential. Water diplomacy builds trust, turns necessity into opportunity, and creates partnerships capable of transforming shared challenges into collective progress.

The conference was attended by Ambassador Jamal Faris Al Ruwaie, Permanent Representative of Bahrain to the UN in New York, and the Foreign Minister’s accompanying delegation.
